Extrabasic

Inflatable cushions connected by a vertex, which act as communicating vessels; when you sit or move the movement is transferred to the other person. The objects are mediators between people, a playful activity to break down physical barriers and conventions, the result is an artefact to make friends.

They were shown for the first time in the exhibition “Extrabasic” in the gallery 22A in Poble Sec Barcelona 2001, The exhibition gathered a series of projects of a political and social character that followed the philosophy of the “Basic House” presented in 1999.

Extra Basic proposes a series of object-based and symbolic elements that match the life and ethics autonomy of the individual. Are the premise for new interpersonal and social relationships. It was presented the equal symbol that was an alternative to the Red Cross international humanitarian aid, Equal represents the right of the people to the most basic, use only what you really need. The interaction project also showed two inflatable cushions that act as online communicating vessels “whatever you do in one, affects the other.”
