Active Surface / Universal Material Gum

Projects presented as part of the Get Up 2003 exhibition that explored the interaction between users and objects. Active Surface is an interactive carpet that reacts to our footsteps and traces. Two layers of plastic, the upper one transparent, trap a white liquid. When you step on it, the liquid is displaced, leaving the colour of the lower layer visible for a few moments.

Universal Material Gum is a hypothetical material that makes it possible to personalise the ergonomics of everyday objects.
