Expecialex

This collection came about out of a proposal by Martín Azúa – teacher of the Design and Analysis of Craft Products organized by the Biartea Association – and the artisan Álex González, and was developed in Bilbao in 2006. The idea behind it was to initiate a dynamic within which, with some guidelines, the crafts person would be capable of developing a project with their own.
The collection of expecials and especialex in process are investigative bodies of work with the intention of creating spice jars specific to the characteristic of each spice; that way allowing for the creation of different shapes and strategies to pour and sprinkle the spices and to open and close the spice jars. This project short listed as a finalist in the National Artisan Awards.
